Fountain Square Office Olympics

July 14-18, 2008

The Fountain Square Office Olympics is a week-long competition that tests the athletic and professional aptitude of six businessmen and six businesswomen to find out who is worthy of Olympic Gold, Silver and Bronze. Twelve “athletes” compete over five days in ten events, including Office Chair Slalom, Brief Case Throw, Post-it High Jump, Coffee Pot Race, and more.

In true Olympic fashion, the Office Olympics have an opening ceremony, complete with an Olympic “Torch” Relay, that is shown on the Square’s giant video board. Other highlights include daily medal ceremonies, daily video recaps, and a closing ceremony on Friday.

“The actual Olympic Games are a celebration of skill and pride,” says Bill Donabedian, Fountain Square Managing Director. “The Office Olympics is no different in that we are asking our athletes to perform great feats of strength and courage in pursuit of Olympic Gold.”

In 2007, this lunchtime event drew crowds of 400+ each day. The Office Olympics presented by Staples was covered by all four local TV stations for a media value of $3,825 and over 1 million impressions. Here's a sample from WCPO-TV 5 July 2007. It even made it into The Globe and Mail of Toronto, Ontario.

Special thanks to Staples, which was presenting sponsor in 2007.

This event is not yet funded for 2008. To discuss possible sponsorship opportunities for this fun, media-friendly event, contact Bill Donabedian at bdonabedian@3cdc.org.
